Support at North Academy
How is wellbeing embedded into the daily routine?
We have five regular program elements that aim to promote healthy connections and relationships, boost cognitive function, rebuild social and emotional skills and improve coping strategies which are incorporated into our daily schedule. Young people will engage with our elements through out the day and is a compulsory part of attending North Academy.
Circle Time: Building fundamental healthy connections so healing may occur, and learning can begin.
Move: Physical exercise is proven to stimulate neurogenesis, enhancing cognitive function, concentration, and on-task behaviour.
Brain Breather: Mindful awareness practice changes how our body and brain respond to stress, preparing nervous systems to learn.
Brain Boost: Mental exercise helps and reshapes through the power of neuroplasticity, improving the speed of thought, decision-making, cognitive function and memory.
Replay: Strategies that develop social and emotional skills in young people allowing them to better cope with stressful situations, providing a better educational experience.
Can young people have their mobile phone on them at North Academy?
North Academy is invested in ensuring that our environment is one where all young people can feel safe and a strong sense of belonging. Mobile phone's will be not permitted during school hours.
Young people are welcome to bring them but they will be required to put them in a safe locker in our teams office if they need to bring them to school.
North Academy will have plenty of opportunities for young people to engage in technology and screen time.
